Lujan Grisham Wins Nambé Pueblo Endorsement
Albuquerque - The leadership and members of Nambé Pueblo endorsed 1st Congressional District candidate Michelle Lujan Grisham in what is expected to be the first of many endorsements by New Mexico natives.
The Pueblo endorsed Lujan Grisham in appreciation of her extensive background in health and long-term care and her unflagging support of and commitment to sovereignty.
"I am honored to have the Nambé Pueblo endorsement and will aggressively seek the support of all of New Mexico's tribes. The first New Mexicans have for too long been the last New Mexicans considered by Washington," Lujan Grisham said.
Nambé leadership spoke of Lujan Grisham being uniquely qualified to shake up the nation's health care system, advocate for elders and their families and bring needed change in Washington.
Lujan Grisham headed several state agencies for three governors including Governor Richardson. She has been applauded for putting partisan politics aside to work for New Mexico seniors and fighting to improve and provide health care for everyone. Her frustration with bureaucracy in bringing health care to people who need it is one of the reasons she entered the congressional race. She had an impressive final quarter of fundraising to close 2007 and brings decades of leadership experience to the race.
Nambé Pueblo is located 20 miles north of Santa Fe, New Mexico, at the base of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Nambé means "People of the Round Earth" in the Tewa language, and the pueblo people are from the Tewa ethnic group of Native Americans."
